Our Commitment to Inclusion

We believe every kid has what it takes. The mission and core beliefs of Wisconsin Boys & Girls Clubs fuel our commitment to promoting safe, positive and inclusive environments for all. We support all youth and teens – of every race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, socio-economic status, and religion – in reaching their full potential.

Our Members

Almost two-thirds of the youth we work with come from minority races or ethnicities, and 63% are eligible for reduced or free hot lunch. These are the youth who need opportunity the most, and addressing racial inequality head on will help enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible adults.

Boys & Girls Club leaders were the first to denounce protest destruction during the Madison uprisings in the Summer 2020, and we worked at the front lines to keep damage to a minimum and stop destructive behavior.

News Story: “Protest peaceful as community leaders, activists split over protest tactics

"There was property damage and vandalism early Wednesday morning. It was the exact scene Michael Johnson, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County, was hoping to avoid by organizing a group of local officials to walk with the protesters and intercept any possible violence. "This is not about protecting property over Black lives. That's such BS," Johnson said in an interview Wednesday. "This is about protecting our kids and our families. It's about protecting the fabric of our community."
